IPL Hair Removal.
Clinically proven permanent hair reduction using Intense Pulsed Light technology. Smooth, lasting results across the face and body — performed by Pea with precision and care.
About the treatment
IPL uses broad-spectrum light to target the melanin in hair follicles, permanently reducing hair growth over a course of sessions. The result is smooth, low-maintenance skin — without the ongoing cost and irritation of waxing or shaving.
Light-based,
lasting results.
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) emits controlled pulses of broad-spectrum light that are absorbed by the melanin in hair follicles. This converts to heat, which damages the follicle and inhibits future hair growth — without affecting the surrounding skin.
Because hair grows in cycles, multiple sessions are required to target follicles in their active growth phase. Most clients achieve 80 to 90% permanent reduction after a recommended course of treatments.

IPL Hair Removal
FAQs.
IPL works best on clients with darker hair and lighter skin tones, as the technology targets the contrast between hair pigment and surrounding skin. It is not suitable for very dark skin tones (Fitzpatrick V-VI) or for white, grey, red or very blonde hair, as there is insufficient melanin in the follicle to absorb the light effectively.
Suitability is always assessed at your consultation before treatment proceeds.
Most clients describe the sensation as a mild snap or flick on the skin, similar to a rubber band. Sensitive areas such as the upper lip or bikini line can be more noticeable, but most find it very tolerable. There is no numbing required for IPL hair removal.
Most clients require 6 to 8 sessions to achieve optimal permanent reduction. Sessions are spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart to target hair in each growth cycle. Hormonal areas such as the face or bikini may require additional sessions or annual top-ups to maintain results.
Most suitable clients achieve 80 to 90% permanent hair reduction after a recommended course of treatments. Any remaining hair is typically finer and lighter than before. Results vary based on skin tone, hair colour, hormonal factors and consistency with the treatment course.
Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, hot showers, saunas and strenuous exercise for 24 hours after treatment. Apply SPF daily to treated areas. Do not wax, thread or epilate between sessions — shaving only. Avoid fake tan for 2 weeks before each session.
IPL pricing varies by treatment area. Package pricing for a full course of sessions is available and represents excellent value compared to a lifetime of waxing. Full pricing is provided at your consultation with no obligation.
Important
pre-treatment information.
Shave before your appointment
The treatment area must be freshly shaved 24 hours before your appointment. Do not wax, thread, epilate or use hair removal cream — the follicle must be intact and below the skin surface for IPL to be effective.
Avoid sun exposure and fake tan
Do not use fake tan or have significant sun exposure for at least 2 weeks before your appointment. Treating tanned skin increases the risk of burns and pigmentation changes. SPF daily is essential throughout your course of treatment.
Medications and contraindications
Some medications increase photosensitivity and are not compatible with IPL. Please advise Pea of all medications and supplements at your consultation, including antibiotics, Roaccutane and any hormonal treatments. Pregnancy is a contraindication for IPL.
Arrive with clean skin
Please arrive with clean, product-free skin in the treatment area. Remove all deodorant, moisturiser, makeup and any topical products before your appointment. Do not apply numbing cream unless specifically advised by Pea.
